We use only the highest quality South American Cumaru “Brazilian Teak” and Parota hardwoods. Why Cumaru and Parota? They have lots of color variations and natural striping ingrained in the wood. It’s what gives them their gorgeous exotic look. We design our pieces to bring out the rich character in these hardwoods and build on that natural beauty with modern elegance.

We love nature and respect the environment – that’s why, we only use sustainable wood. And, for every tree cut down, we plant two new ones in its place. It’s our promise to care for the Earth.

Why don't we use Ipe? The over harvesting of Ipe because of widespread use on construction projects, has led to a deforestation crisis in the Amazon Rainforest. Ipe is now rare and, because it only grows in low densities, in order for loggers to get to the mature trees, they have to clear hundreds of thousands and sometimes millions of feet of rainforest, resulting in tremendous deforestation and wasted timber (yes, wasted timber! Cleared trees have almost no commercial value and often go unused). That’s why many designers, builders and architects are turning away from Ipe and choosing to keep their hands clean with more ethically sound wood.

We use Cumaru over Ipe because we only use responsibly harvested wood from sustainable forests. Cumaru is a highly sustainable resource. It’s also very similar in character to Ipe; in fact, some people can’t tell the difference between the two, especially when it comes to size, weight and color.
